In the early 1990s, Rob Edwards helped Susan D'Arcy write a book about the loss of her young daughter, Gemma, to leukaemia - a loss for which she blamed the Sellafield nuclear plant in north west England. The book was published in the UK by Bloomsbury in 1995, and translated into six languages. Twelve years on it is not easy to find, though it is still relevant to the arguments over nuclear power. RADIOACTIVE contamination from Sellafield has been detected on Braystones beach following recently improved monitoring. British Nuclear Group has reported in the Sellafield newsletter that "a week of radiological monitoring was carried out at Braystones beach between Monday January 29 and Friday 2. "The monitoring was in line with an Environment Agency statutory requirement. "As a result of the monitoring we have removed three contaminated items from the beach. These are being fully analysed to determine their source.
